Type species: ¤ Gaetbulimicrobium brevivitae Yoon et al. 2006.
Etymology: N.L. n. gaetbulum, gaetbul, the Korean name for a tidal flat; N.L. neut. n. microbium, a microbe; N.L. neut. n. Gaetbulimicrobium, a microbe isolated from a tidal flat.

Note: Nedashkovskaya et al. 2006 propose to transfer ¤ Gaetbulimicrobium brevivitae Yoon et al. 2006 (the type species of the genus Gaetbulimicrobium) to the genus ¤ Aquimarina as ¤ Aquimarina brevivitae (Yoon et al. 2006) Nedashkovskaya et al. 2006, comb. nov. According to Rule 37a, bacteriologists adhering to this proposal must change the name Gaetbulimicrobium to ¤ Aquimarina.
