Type species: ¤ Galbibacter mesophilus Khan et al. 2007.
Etymology: L. adj. galbus, yellow; N.L. masc. n. bacter, rod; N.L. masc. n. Galbibacter, a yellow bacterium.

Galbibacter mesophilus Khan et al. 2007, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus).

Etymology: Gr. adj. mesos, middle; N.L. adj. philus -a -um (from Gr. adj. philos -ê -on), friend, loving; N.L. masc. adj. mesophilus, middle (temperature)-loving, i.e. mesophilic.
