Etymology: N.L. n. ferrihydritum, ferrihydrite; L. suff. -icus -a -um, suffix used with the sense of pertaining to; N.L. masc. adj. ferrihydriticus, pertaining to ferrihydrite, weakly crystalline iron hydroxyde, which is reduced by the species.
