Type species: ¤ Granulibacter bethesdensis Greenberg et al. 2006.
Etymology: L. n. granulum, grain; N.L. masc. n. bacter, rod; N.L. masc. n. Granulibacter, a rod that causes granules or granuloma formation.
Reference: GREENBERG (D.E.), PORCELLA (S.F.), STOCK (F.), WONG (A.), CONVILLE (P.S.), MURRAY (P.R.), HOLLAND (S.M.) and ZELAZNY (A.M.): Granulibacter bethesdensis gen. nov., sp. nov., a distinctive pathogenic acetic acid bacterium in the family Acetobacteraceae. Etymology: N.L. masc. adj. bethesdensis, pertaining to Bethesda, MD, USA, where the type strain was isolated.
