Type species: ¤ Granulicella paludicola Pankratov et al. 2010.
Etymology: L. n granulum, a small grain; L. fem. n. cella, a storeroom, chamber and, in biology, a cell; N.L. fem. n. Granulicella, a grain-like cell.
