Etymology: N.L. n. hydrogenum (from Gr. n. hudôr, water; and Gr. v. gennaô, to produce), hydrogen (that which produces water, so called because it forms water when exposed to oxygen); Gr. fem. n. monas, a unit, monad; N.L. fem. n. Hydrogenimonas, hydrogen monad.
