Type genus: ¤ Hyphomonas (ex Pongratz 1957) Moore et al. 1984.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Hyphomonas, type genus of the family; suff. -aceae, ending to denote a family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Hyphomonadaceae, the Hyphomonas family.
