Type species: ¤ Hyunsoonleella jejuensis Yoon et al. 2010.
Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Hyunsoonleella, named after Hyun-Soon Lee, a Korean microbiologist who devoted her life to the study of photosynthetic bacteria.

Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. jejuensis, of or pertaining to Jeju Island in the Republic of Korea, from where the type strain was isolated.
