Type species: ¤ Lebetimonas acidiphila Takai et al. 2005.
Etymology: L. n. lebes -etis, a copper basin, kettle, caldron; L. fem. n. monas, a unit, monad; N.L. fem. n. Lebetimonas, cell from a caldron.
