1 A polyphasic taxonomic approach revealed that the type strains of ¤ Pseudomonas nautica Bauman et al. 1972 (Approved Lists 1980) and Marinobacter hydrocarbonoclasticus Gauthier et al. 1992 were highly similar and should be considered members of the same species. The authors propose the unification of the two species Pseudomonas nautica and Marinobacter hydrocarbonoclasticus as Marinobacter hydrocarbonoclasticus.
