Type species: ¤ Morococcus cerebrosus Long et al. 1981.
Etymology: L. n. morum, mulberry; N.L. masc. n. coccus (from Gr. masc. n. kokkos, grain, seed), coccus; N.L. masc. n. Morococcus, the mulberry coccus.

Morococcus cerebrosus Long et al. 1981, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus).

Etymology: L. masc. adj. cerebrosus, having a madness of the brain, hare-brained, hotbrained, passionate; intended to mean pertaining to the brain, the original source of isolation of this organism.
