Murdochiella Ulger-Toprak et al. 2010, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Murdochiella asaccharolytica Ulger-Toprak et al. 2010.
Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Murdochiella, named to honour Dr David A. Murdoch, British microbiologist, who has contributed so much to our knowledge of anaerobic bacteriology.

Etymology: Gr. pref. a-, not; Gr. n. sakchâr, sugar; N.L. fem. adj. lytica (from Gr. fem. adj. lutikê), able to dissolve, able to loose; N.L. fem. adj. asaccharolytica, not digesting sugar..
