Type species: ¤ Muriicola jejuensis Kahng et al. 2010.
Etymology: L. n. muria (or muries), salt liquor; L. suff. -cola (from L. n. incola), dweller, inhabitant; N.L. masc. n. Muriicola, dweller in salt water.

Muriicola jejuensis Kahng et al. 2010, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus).
Type strain (see also StrainInfo.net): strain EM44 = DSM 21206 = KCTC 22299.
GenBank/EMBL/DDBJ accession number for the 16S rRNA gene sequence of the type strain: EU443206.
Etymology: N.L. masc. adj. jejuensis, of Jeju island, Republic of Korea, from where the type strain was isolated.
