Type genus: ¤ Nannocystis Reichenbach 1970 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Nannocystis, type genus of the suborder; suff. -ineae, ending to denote a suborder; N.L. fem. pl. n. Nannocystineae, the Nannocystis suborder.
