Negativicutes Marchandin et al. 2010, class. nov.
Type order: ¤ Selenomonadales Marchandin et al. 2010.
Etymology: L. adj. negativus, negative; L. fem. n. cutis, skin; N.L. fem. pl. n. Negativicutes, division with cells bounded by skin with two concentric lipid bilayers, the cytoplasmic membrane and an outer membrane, to indicate Gram-negative type of cell wall in the Firmicutes division (phylum).
