Type species: ¤ Ornithinimicrobium humiphilum Groth et al. 2001.
Etymology: N.L. n. ornithinum, ornithine (an amino acid named after the Gr. n. ornithos, bird); N.L. neut. n. microbium (from Gr. adj. mikros, small and Gr. n. bios, life), a microbe; N.L. neut. n. Ornithinimicrobium, a microbe with ornithine.

Etymology: N.L. neut. adj. kibberense, of or pertaining to Kibber, a village in the Indian Himalayas, where the type strain was isolated.

Etymology: N.L. neut. adj. pekingense, pertaining to Peking, the former English name of Beijing, where the type strain was isolated and studied.
