Type species: ¤ Pacificibacter maritimus Romanenko et al. 2011.
Etymology: L. masc. adj. pacificus, pacific, pertaining to the Pacific Ocean; N.L. masc. n. bacter, a rod; N.L. masc. n. Pacificibacter, a rod isolated from the Pacific Ocean.
