Type species: ¤ Paludibacter propionicigenes Ueki et al. 2006.
Etymology: L. n. palus -udis, a swamp, marsh; N.L. masc. n. bacter, a rod; N.L. masc. n. Paludibacter, rod living in swamps.

Paludibacter propionicigenes Ueki et al. 2006, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus).
Type strain (see also StrainInfo.net): strain WB4 = DSM 17365 = JCM 13257.

Etymology: N.L. n. acidum propionicum, propionic acid; N.L. suff. -genes (from Gr. v. gennaô, to produce), producing; N.L. part. adj. propionicigenes, propionic acid producing.
