Type species: ¤ Porticoccus litoralis Oh et al. 2010.
Etymology: L. n. portus, a harbour, haven, port; N.L. masc. n. coccus (from Gr. masc. n. kokkos, grain, seed), a coccus; N.L. masc. n. Porticoccus, a coccus isolated from a harbour.

Etymology: L. masc. adj. litoralis, of or belonging to the sea shore.
