Type genus: ¤ Propionibacterium Orla-Jensen 1909 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: N.L. neut. n. Propionibacterium, type genus of the suborder; suff. -ineae, ending to denote a suborder; N.L. fem. pl. n. Propionibacterineae, the Propionibacterium suborder.
