Type species: ¤ Proteiniclasticum ruminis Zhang et al. 2010.
Etymology: N.L. neut. n. proteinum, protein; N.L neut adj. clasticum (from Gr neut adj klaston, broken in pieces) breaking; N.L. neut. n. Proteiniclasticum, a bacterium able to digest proteins.
