Type genus: ¤ Pseudoalteromonas Gauthier et al. 1995.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Pseudoalteromonas, type genus of the family; suff. -aceae, ending to denote a family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Pseudoalteromonadaceae, the Pseudoalteromonas family.
