Type species: ¤ Sediminitomix flava Khan et al. 2007.
Etymology: L. n. sedimen -inis, sediment; L. fem. n. tomix, a thread; N.L. fem. n. Sediminitomix, a thread isolated from sediment.
Reference: KHAN (S.T.), NAKAGAWA (Y.) and HARAYAMA (S.): Sediminitomix flava gen. nov., sp. nov., of the phylum Bacteroidetes, isolated from marine sediment. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2007, 57, 1689-1693.

Sediminitomix flava Khan et al. 2007, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus).
Type strain (see also StrainInfo.net): strain Mok-1-85 = CIP 109411 = KCTC 12970 = NBRC 101625.
GenBank/EMBL/DDBJ accession number for the 16S rRNA gene sequence of the type strain: AB255370.
Etymology: L. fem. adj. flava, reddish yellow, the colour of the colonies.
