Type species: ¤ Sinococcus qinghaiensis Li et al. 2006.
Etymology: M.L. n. Sina, China; N.L. masc. n. coccus (from Gr. n. kokkos), a grain or berry; N.L. masc. n. Sinococcus, coccus-shaped microbe isolated from places in China.

Note: The name Sinococcus Li et al. 2006 is illegitimate because it is a later homonym of Sinococcus Wu & Zheng, 2000 (Insecta: Hemiptera: Sternorrhyncha: Coccoidea: Pseudococcidae). See Principle 2. Consequently, a new genus designation ¤ Sinobaca Li et al. 2008 has been proposed by Li et al. 2008.
