Search List of Prokaryotic names with Standing in Nomenclature

 

The search function is especially useful to find an author's name (e.g. Trüper), or to find a name without standing in nomenclature but cited as a synonym (e. g. "Bacteridium anthracis"; "Cytoecetes"...), or to find a strain (e.g. CCUG 38365).

You can use either "Google Custom Search", or "ht://Dig WWW Search Engine".

Search

. To search the exact phrase, please put the words in quotes: "Streptococcus intermedius"; "Bacillus radiobacter Beijerinck and van Delden 1902"; "ATCC 10881".

. Avoid punctuation of any kind: to find Thiemann et al. 1967, please enter "Thiemann et al 1967" (i.e. without a full stop after "et al"); to find CGMCC 1.6114, please enter "CGMCC 16114" (i.e. without a full stop after the first number 1).

. Words with diacritical signs and without diacritical signs are different: Euzéby # Euzeby.

. Capital letters and small letters are equivalent: FLAVOBACTERIUM = flavobacterium.

. Wildcards are not supported.

Match

Any: This will search for all pages containing any of the words you type in the search box.

All: This will search for all pages containg all of the words you type in the search box.

Boolean: This will allow you to use and combine the search arguments and, not and or with your keywords in the search box. You may also use parenthesis to combine arguments.

Format

Short: This will return the results and will only list the score of the page (ranked out of 5 stars) and the title of the page.

Long: This will return the results and will list the score of the page, its title, a short description of it (or the first 250 characters), the URL of the page and the size of the page in bytes.

Sort by

Score: This will return the results of your search in order of how well they met your search criteria.

Time: This will order your results according to how recently they appear to have been updated, latest updated will appear first.

Title: Your search results will be listed in alphabetical order of the page title.

Reverse: There are also three other options to sort your results by the above criteria, but in reverse order of score, last update and title.
