Terasakiella pusilla (Terasaki 1973) Satomi et al. 2002, comb. nov. (Type species of the genus).
Type strain (see also StrainInfo.net): strain ATCC 33338 = CIP 103382 = DSM 6293 = IFO (now NBRC) 13613 = JCM 21225 = LMG 7372.
GenBank/EMBL/DDBJ accession number for the 16S rRNA gene sequence of the type strain: AB006768.
Basonym: ¤ Oceanospirillum pusillum (Terasaki 1973) Terasaki 1979 (Approved Lists 1980).
Other synonym: "Spirillum pusillum" Terasaki 1973.
Etymology: L. fem. adj. pusilla, very small.

Notes:
1 In the paper by Satomi et al. 2002, the basonym is cited as Oceanospirillum pusillum Terasaki 1979.
2 According to Rules 27(3) and 30, this name is not validly published because the effective publication only documents deposit of the type strain in a single recognized culture collection. However, according to the Judicial Opinion 81, Terasakiella pusilla (Terasaki 1973) Satomi et al. 2002 is to be considered to be validly published.
