Etymology: Gr. n. thermê, heat; L. fem. n. monas, a unit, monad; N.L. fem. n. Thermomonas, a thermophilic monad.

Thermomonas hydrothermalis Alves et al. 2003, sp. nov.
Type strain (see also StrainInfo.net): strain SGM-6 = ATCC BAA-470 = DSM 14834.

Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. hydrothermalis, hydrothermal, to indicate that the organism originated from a hot spring, although not a very hot one.
