Type genus: ¤ Thermotoga Stetter and Huber 1986.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Thermotoga, type genus of the order; suff. -ales, ending denoting an order; N.L. fem. pl. n. Thermotogales, the Thermotoga order.
