Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Ulva, generic name of the green alga Ulva fenestra; N.L. masc. n. bacter, rod; N.L. masc. n. Ulvibacter, rod isolated from the green alga Ulva fenestra.

Etymology: L. masc. adj. antarcticus, of the Antarctic environment, referring to the place where the organism was isolated.
